Nearly 10 per cent of the UK’s dog population live in London.

That equates to almost 312,000 dogs in homes around the English capital, helping commuters to wake up if they’ve missed their alarm or wind down after a long day at work.

With an abundance of open spaces, such as Hyde Park, Greenwich Park and Richmond Park, there’s no shortage of locations to take your pooch for a walk on those rare sunny evenings.

As one of the biggest capitals in the world, it should come as no surprise that London is becoming more dog friendly as cafes, hotels and restaurants open their doors to our beloved pooches.

Whether your a dog owner living in London or hoping to move to the English capital with your pup in toe one day, you’ll want to know the best spots to take your four-legged companion in the vibrant city.

So here’s our breakdown of London dogs that you should be following on Instagram to keep up to date on the latest events and trends in the doggy world around London.

One of the less common varieties of Terrier, we’ve got Teddy (@teddysealyham) first up on our list. He’s a Sealyham Terrier living in the capital. He’s “generally a very good boy”. You can find Teddy posing in front of a variety of beauty spots in London.

Don’t confuse Koda for a Samoyed or American Eskimo Dog. This little cloud is a male Japanese Spitz. Koda (@kodathecloud) is one of the chief barking officers at pet insurance start up Waggel, whose HQ is based in London. Keep an eye out and you may spot Koda commuting to central London on the week days.

Continuing our feature of some rare dog breeds, we’ve got Skylar (@skylar_weimaraner) next up. She’s a Weimaraner who works as a commercial and fashion dog model. Her account was set up to show the world through Skylar’s eyes. Skylar’s bio proudly declares that all her photos are taken on an iPhone, capturing many special moments.

Zeus the Malamute (@london_malamute) is a big dog in the big city. He won’t be found pulling sleds but does have many responsibilities, such as working as a therapy dog, or joining his mom at the office. This London City boy is well on his way to 11,000 followers.

With a very catchy Instagram handle, Bear (@excusemypom) is a PR friendly Pomeranian living in London. He’s got a simple motto: “all about that nap, yap and crap life”. Living in Peckham, this Sass Queen has just over 10,000 followers on the photo-sharing app.

Theo (@litogodfather) is a Miniature Pinscher based in London. This charming lady has over 10,000 followers on Instagram. You’ll find Theo working at her dog walking business when she’s not posing in front of the camera.

We don’t imagine there are many Cattle Dogs living in the English capital. That’s one reason alone to give Rupert (@dogslifeinlondon) a follow! Rupert gets around – too. His profile boasts photos in front of some of the capital’s famous landmarks, like Tower Bridge and King’s Cross.

Ernie The Cavapoochon (@ernieoodle) is one pup you won’t forget in a hurry. We’ve got to number 11 without encountering one of our favorite breeds: Whippets. Lloyd (@allaboutlloyd_) is an elegant Whippet living in the London Borough of Hackney. His mom Paz’s loves to match photos with Lloyd – these two are powerful fashion duo. It won’t be long before they hit the 20k mark.

Copper and Skye (@lifewithkleekai) look like Huskies but they’re in fact Alaskan Klee Kai. These two AKK swapped California for London at the start of 2019 and are quickly adapting to life in the English capital. They’ve got nearly 50,000 followers that are keeping tabs on these Mini Huskies as they explore London sights such as Tower Bridge, St Paul’s and Millennium Bridge. They’re the UK’s number one dogs on TikTok with nearly 2 million followers.

That brings us nicely onto @hugoandursula. Well, it’s Hugo, Huxley and Ursula now after the duo welcomed an adorable puppy into their pack. Ursula is a dog photographer and she’s found all manner of ways to photograph Hugo and Huxley, whether it’s in costume, out and about or alongside Mom. Since we first featured them on hellobark.com, their following has unsurprisingly grown to 180,000 followers thanks to their hilarious photos.
