If you have a dog with separation anxiety, you may want to consider a pet camera.
Such a device can be used to monitor your dog when you leave it at home alone unsupervised.
Using a HD camera, you can keeps tabs on your furry friend’s every movement, while listening in if your dog is barking or whining.
Some even come with advanced features such as a treat dispenser or a laser game to keep your four-legged friends stimulated at all times.
In this review we are going to take a look at Wansview Wi-Fi camera.
Our helloBARK! team of researchers have taken a close look at the device’s specifications, what customers are saying about the product and how much it costs.
So let’s get right down to business and put the Wansview Wi-Fi in the spotlight.
What’s Wansview Wi-Fi Camera?
Wansview Wi-Fi camera promise dog owners that they’ll have a “super wide” view of their room to make sure they can see all areas of their home.
With enhanced night vision, you can see your pet no matter what time of day it is thanks to their device’s versatile camera.
The device has a two-way audio system to give you the freedom to talk to your dog and hear if your furry friend is making a lot of noise.
Using their app, you can manipulate the camera to view different areas of the room, while you can zoom in on your precious pooch.
They offer 30 days of free storage to give dog owners the chance to store clips of their pet on Wansview’s cloud server.
This Wi-Fi camera falls within the budget range of pet cameras for those who don’t want to spend too much on such a device.
Wansview Wi-Fi Camera doesn’t have a treat dispenser, so you will be unable to reward your pet with a tasty nibble for good behaviour.
We believe such a feature is great for keeping your dog entertained, especially if they require a lot of stimulation.
So it is disappointing that the device doesn’t come with one.
HD video and Two-way speaker
Wansview claim their 1080P Full HD resolution will give you an excellent viewing experience. With 120°ultra-wide viewing angle, you will have access all areas and you also can zoom in/out to see every detail in your room.
Using their app, you can access the built-in microphone to talk to your pet, providing some reassurance if they have become anxious. Alternatively, you’ll be able to hear if they’re barking a lot or whining.
Audio and movement detection
When the Wi-Fi camera detects movement or something out of the ordinary, notifications will be sent to your phone and instant alarm videos will be taken. So if your dog is chewing the couch or digging furiously in the potted plant, you should receive an alert.
The device has IR-Cut which provides clear and high quality images day and night. Wansview claim that their four IR LEDs will provide a clear video in up to 20 feet in darkness.
Ease of use
The company claim on their Amazon page that set up is as easy as 1, 2, 3.
The Amazon reviews do suggest getting the camera up and running is relatively simple.
Design and size
Wansview Wi-Fi camera has a sleek design. With a round camera and a sturdy stand, you’ll be able to place the device in a number of different areas.
The device can be placed on a book shelf, coffee table or a counter top.
Wansview Wi-Fi camera is competitively priced at $29.99 (USD) / £29.99 (GBP) on Amazon.
What people are saying about it
The product has an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 stars based upon over 1,000 reviews on Amazon.
One satisfied customer was thrilled with the camera’s performance given the price:
“This camera is very small with big results. I have installed it in my bedroom where my little dog stays during the day while I’m at work. The camera has a wide viewing area, I can talk to my pet, she can talk back. The sound and picture quality are very good.”
Another Amazon customer felt the sound could be a little better but still gave a five-star review:
“The voice comes out a little tiny but my pets can tell it’s me talking and start looking for me. If you are looking for an inexpensive camera this is good one, it’s a breeze to set up, download the app and scan the QR code on the camera and you’re connected.”
However, another dog owner had a negative experience with the camera:
“I used it inside my home to watch my dogs while i’m away. The camera was amazing at first. Both the pictures and videos were very clear but suddenly stopped working after a month.”
Wansview Wi-Fi camera doesn’t have a treat dispenser, which is a disappointing omission. Given it is a budget camera, this is hardly a surprise.
It doesn’t have sound detection and you will need a SD card to record video unless you want to sign up to their subscription service.
Is this the best dog camera?
While Wansview Wi-Fi Camera is decent value given it costs $29.99, it is missing some key features that helloBARK! likes to see in a dog camera.
To be fair, it isn’t marketed as a pet camera but a security camera with the ability to monitor your dog if you so wish.
The SD card fits in under the rubber strip on the side of the device.

Anything else to consider?
Wansview offer 30 days for free return, 60 days for replacement and one-year warranty. They also offer customers 30 days free cloud storage.
Wansview Wi-Fi camera is a budget option for dog owners who are reluctant to invest significant funds in a dedicated pet camera.
While the device will do a decent job, it is missing some key features to make it a great pet camera for dog owners.
If you’re looking to purchase a device to keep an eye on your furry friends, you may want to consider a premium pet camera.
