Imagine being able to watch your house anywhere, anytime and keep your dog safe.

Well now you can thanks to the many dog cameras and monitors available on the pet security market.

These devices give dog owners the ability to keep tabs on their furry friends no matter where they are.

Using an app on your smartphone, most products allow you to watch, speak and play with your pet.

TOOGE Pet Camera is one of the leading pet cameras on the Amazon marketplace.

In this article, we examine what this camera can offer pet parents and what customers are saying about the device.

So without further ado, let’s start this review of the TOOGE Pet Camera.

What is TOOGE Pet Camera?

TOOGE Pet Camera want us to focus on what we love: our pets!

Never again will you have to feel separated from your precious pooch.

Whether you’re at the office, at dinner with friends or working out at the gym, you can keep tabs on what’s happening at home.

You simply have to take out your smartphone and access their app which will allow you to remote control the dog camera freely.

What’s more, multiple users will be able to view the same camera simultaneously with different devices anywhere.

So the whole family can make sure the most important member of the household is safe and well.

Treat dispenser

The TOOGE Pet Camera doesn’t have the ability to reward well behaved dogs with treats.

At helloBARK!, we like dog cameras that have this feature to give dog owners greater scope to control and entertain their canines.

It also presents the chance to impress work colleagues and friends with your dog’s obedience skills on camera.

Two-way speaker and HD video

While this camera is missing the treat dispenser feature, it does have a two-way speaker.

This is vital to allow dog owners to communicate with their pets, especially if they have pups who suffer with separation anxiety.

TOOGE Pet Camera’s built-in ultra-responsive microphone allows you to have smooth stable conversations through the app, wherever you are.

The camera provides horizontal 350° and vertical 80°rotation with 4x digital zoom function for a complete coverage of your home.

The video is 720p.

Audio and movement detection

Dogs with separation anxiety will often bark, cry, scream or whine until their human companion returns.

This is why audio detection is important but unfortunately TOOGE Pet Camera doesn’t have this feature.

However, it is able to detect movement so if your dog is resorting to destructive behaviour such as chewing or digging, you will receive a notification.

The camera will send notifications to your smartphone alerting when, where, and what movement was detected.

So wherever you are, you can log in and check up on your pooch to make sure they’re not resorting to unwanted behaviour.

Night vision

During the winter months, it can be difficult to make it home from work before daylight fades.

Thanks to IR-CUT Auto Switch Filter, this wifi pet camera will auto switch to night vision when it’s dark.

TOOGE Pet Camera has visibility of up to 10 metres in night vision mode so you will have a clear visual of your dog.

Ease of use

The set up process is relatively simple. You can avail of fast WiFi setup via their mobile app.

You are also provided with a manual instruction guide to get the camera up and running.

It is worth noting that TOOGE Pet Camera is compatible with IOS/Android, Windows, PC but MAC is not supported.

The wifi camera works with 2.4GHz wifi but it is incompatible with 5GHz wifi.

Design and size

The camera doesn’t have the most modern design. However, it is relatively small and can be placed anywhere in the house.

The ability to move the camera gives dog owners flexibility in terms of placement.

Price

The TOOGE Pet Camera is great value at $39.99 (USA) / £32.99 (UK) on Amazon.

It is a lot cheaper than other premium products on the market at the moment. However, it is missing key features such as a treat dispenser and audio detection.

What people are saying about it

While the Wifi pet camera is an “Amazon Choice” product, it has a disappointing average rating of 3.6 out of 5.

Note: We have been contacted by a number of customers who have experienced issues with this product.

One customer was delighted with the product’s two-way speaker system:

“I loved this camera! I love how easy it is to install, the quality and the fact I can check on my dog even when I’m away from home. I can talk to him and he can hear me clearly. I can know if he’s barking because it has a two way sound system.”

An Amazon reviewer claimed that the device can be difficult to use with powerful Wifi connections (something which the company does mention on the product page on the website):

“It is a great product and great quality just sucks it has to be connected to the router at all times. our WiFi is “to powerful” for the camera so it needs to be plugged into it if we want it to work.”

Of the 351 reviews, 55 per cent of customers gave five stars. Worryingly, 25 per cent gave one star.

One unhappy customer explained the reasoning behind her one-star rating:

“I still don’t understand how this product has positive reviews. It never connects to the internet. The image always freezes. It doesn’t motion detect and the voice command is terrible. I never really write negative reviews but this one was well deserved.”

Another disappointed consumer had a similar issue:

“I bought this camera to keep an eye on my dogs while I am at work. Big mistake. I have no idea how this is Amazon’s preferred choice for cameras. It simply won’t connect.”

Any negatives?

The TOOGE Pet Camera doesn’t have a treat dispenser, which is drawback for helloBARK! Such a feature can help dog owners curtail bad behaviour and reward pooches who follow commands.

The lack of an audio sensor is another disappointing omission. It won’t affect users who are in a position to monitor the app when away from the home.

But for those who have to work or are unable to keep the app open, you won’t be alerted if your dog is barking or whining.

Is this the best dog camera?

This Wifi pet camera is one of the cheapest models on the market. Of the 351 reviews, 221 are positive.

However, we feel there are better options than the TOOGE Pet Camera currently available for purchase right now.

Anything else to consider?

You will need a memory card to insert into the device to record video of your pups. A memory card is not included in the TOOGE Pet Camera packaging.

Multiple users can log into the app and view the camera at the same time.

Conclusion

TOOGE Pet Camera is a good option for those with a limited budget.

It has a lot of positive features but there are some glaring omissions.

If you have the resources available, you may prefer pay a little extra and go with a dog camera that has greater specs.
