But have you taken a look at the ingredients in your canine companion’s food? They can often use additives, preservatives or other nasties in store-bought dry or wet food.

Pure Pet Food vs Tails – Our Recommendation

We’ve reached the key part of our comparison article. Who do we recommend: Pure Pet Food or Tails?
Having tested both dog food delivery companies on my Alaskan Klee Kai, I personally prefer Pure Pet Food.
I really like that Pure Pet Food use high quality ingredients in their meals so I knew my dogs were eating human-grade food.
My first delivery was full of personal touches that made me feel part of the Pure Pet Food family. They even have balls for your dogs!
Pure Pet Food have a unique way of cooking their ingredients using the air-dried method but I like that I can add water to their food effectively making it wet pet food.

Example of Pure Pet Food (Photo: www.hellobark.com)
My dogs really liked the texture and I was able to play around with how much water I added to find a consistency that my dogs really liked.
My Klee Kai are usually picky dogs that take their time with their food. However, they wolfed down their Pure Pet Food meals without hesitation, which was great to see!
Unlike some dog food delivery companies, Pure Pet Food’s air-dried food can easily be stored in your cupboard so they don’t take up lots of room in your freezer or fridge.
As a pet owner who cares about the environment, I was delighted that Pure Pet Food offer the ability to return your dog food bags once you’ve collected five free of charge.
Having said that, Tails do a great job and their food is made using high quality ingredients and tailored to your dog’s requirements. I found that my dogs won’t overly motivated to eat their Tails meals but I’ve got extremely picky eaters.
I must commend their customer service team who went above and beyond to find a recipe that my dogs would get really excited about but it didn’t quite happen.
So I recommend Pure Pet Food as my preferred choice but you won’t go too far wrong by choosing either dog food delivery company.

Pure Pet Food get an average rating of 4.8 stars out of 5 based upon over 1,200 reviews on independent review website Trustpilot (at the time of writing).
John revealed that his dog’s stomach issues have cleared up after making the switch to Pure Pet Food.
Our puppy was previously fed on kibble but always had problems with loose stools. After some research, we gave Pure Wholesome Chicken a try and from the first feeds those issues were resolved. She still loves it and it’s gone in a couple of minutes every time.
Denise is over the moon to see her Cockapoo enjoy Pure Pet Food’s meals.
My 18 month old Cockapoo would only eat kibble if something was mixed with it, tried lots of different brands and flavours that people recommend but he would only eat it for a week or two then not touch it. Tried the leave food down and he’ll eat when he’s hungry but he would go in the garden and eat grass to be sick rather than eat kibble. Happier on wet food but only from trays not tinned, so when I say fussy he is very fussy! None of this I thought healthy so when I saw an advert for Pure I thought I would give it a try and the change was instant. He has eaten every meal as soon as it’s put down and seems to actually enjoy it.

A customer with a dog who suffers from pancreatitis was impressed:
Freddie has Pancreatitis so has to be careful what he eats. He is also fussy foodie he says that out of all the foods he’s tried this one gets his vote. He has no problems with his mix.
A pet parent with a senior Golden Retriever revealed the level of care Tails provide:
I have a senior golden retriever who had been taken poorly and due to this had lost weight and looking a bit sad! Tails helped by taking the details of her vets visit and her diet. I was then referred to a nutritionist who called me with advice and what she thought was needed to get her weight back. She is looking much better putting on weight and back to her bouncy self.

Wrapping Things Up – Final Thoughts

We’ve reached the end of our Pure Pet Food and Tails comparison article.
They’re two dog food delivery companies operating in the UK who are looking to provide a fresh and healthy alternative to the traditional pet food brands.
While there are positives to both pet food companies, I consider Pure Pet Food to be a slightly superior option based upon trying both brands on my Alaskan Klee Kai.
I really liked the family feel to Pure Pet Food with lots of information about their dog food provided in your initial delivery of their air-dried dog food.
It was great to read about the benefits of air-dried dog food. I liked that you have to mix the dry food with a drop of water to create a wet food option that is full of top notch ingredients.
My dogs polished off their Pure Pet Food meals without hesitation, which is a ringing endorsement given my Klee Kai are notoriously picky where their food is concerned.
During my research, I noticed that a lot of dog owners who have pups that struggle with pancreatitis have enjoyed success with Pure Pet Food’s meals.
Having said all that, you won’t go wrong if you opt for Tails because their meals are tailored to your dog’s needs and they only use fresh ingredients in recipes formulated by vets.
While Pure Pet Food is my top pick, you won’t go wrong either either company.
