Tired of cooking your dog homemade meals? It’s time to consider a dog food delivery service.
There are an array of companies that provide healthy and freshly prepared dog meals to shake up the market.
We all want our dogs to eat nutritious meals, but it isn’t always clear what ingredients are used in traditional options such as dry and wet food.
Porter & Pals are a new option that have recently launched on the market to rival some of the more established companies.
They deliver small batch dog food directly to your doorstep to eliminate the hassle of having to make the meals yourself.
In this article, we are going to take a close look at the ingredients Porter & Pals use, the cost of their service, as well as customer reviews.
So with the introductions over, let’s take a close look at Porter & Pals.

What service does Porter & Pals provide?
We take our health seriously and look to eat a balanced and healthy daily diet, but Porter & Pals think its just as important to protect our pup’s health as well.
The company was founded by identical twins Adam and Parker and the pair have one core value: to provide our dogs with healthy and delicious human-grade food.
Their website outlines how Porter & Pals will deliver “All-American dog food” to your pooch.
This brand new kind of dog food is born out of simple science and a quest for the perfect subscription experience, their promotional material goes on to say.
Porter & Pals reassure dog owners that their food is nutritionally balanced with a mixture of protein, good fat, and beneficial carbs.
Their recipes are freeze-dried and raw, which means no essential vitamins get lost in the process.
While this all sounds great, we prefer to take a close look at the ingredients used, whether their deliveries are on time, is the service affordable, and the customer reviews.
How Porter & Pals works
To begin the process of ordering your first delivery of Porter & Pals, you will need to submit some vital information about your dog.
The first step involves entering your details, including name and email address.
Next is the necessary details about your dog: their name, age, weight, activity level, how many treats they eat, whether they are purebred or mixed (and breed name if appropriate).
Porter & Pals accommodate for pet owners with more than one dog.
They use their own algorithm to find your best fit with a recommended recipe.
You are presented with the choice of using Porter & Pals all the time, or using it as a topper for your regular dog food.
Let’s have a closer look at the recipes on offer.
Porter & Pals offer one recipe at the moment but it is unique and contains natural ingredients (the same stuff you eat!).
Given the company launched in October 2018, there should be more options coming soon.
Freeze dried chicken & vegetable recipe – Chicken, Chicken Hearts, Chicken Liver, Chicken Gizzards, Sweet potato, Flaxseed, Oats, Peas, Carrots, Spinach, Pumpkin Seeds, Krill, Mixed Tocopherols (Preservative).
On their website, Porter & Pals reveal that their is a second recipe in the offing. Let’s take a look at it.
Freeze dried beef & vegetable recipe – Beef, Beef Heart, Beef Liver, Turkey Neck, Flax, Pea, Potato, Carrots, Spinach, Krill, Pumpkin Seeds, mixed tocopherols (preservative).
Porter & Pals freeze their food because it locks in all the great taste while retaining all the key nutrients.
It is important to note that they don’t describe their grub as human grade, which stands out against other companies in the industry.
However, the company provide an explanation on their website – your food has to be made in a kitchen that also makes food for humans to be called “human grade” but Porter & Pals use a manufacturing facility that only makes dog food.
Given the dog meals are frozen, you have to rehydrate the food before serving to your pooch.
Porter & Pals give advice on how to rehydrate your food on their website.
They recommend adding a small amount of water, allowing the food to absorb the water for a few minutes, and then draining the excess water.
The food can also be rehydrated with chicken broth or you can even use no water.
Porter & Pals stress that serving water alongside your dog food is vital.
They add that your food should never be left out of the fridge for more than three or four hours. You can store leftover food covered in the fridge for three or four days.
Price and delivery
Porter & Pals don’t offer a rough guide to their pricing on their website.
However, you can make your dog’s plan without having to commit or enter any card details.
For a Pomsky weighing 11 pounds, you can expect to pay around $84 a month.
Alternatively, a Siberian Husky weighing 40 pounds would cost a pet parent around $184 a month.
Obviously the cost of Porter & Pals varies depending on the age, size, activity level and breed of your dog.
What are customers saying?
Given Porter & Pals launched in October 2018, we haven’t been able to find any reviews online – yet.
If you have tried this brand, please drop us a line at kieran @ hellobark dot com.
One negative is a lack of recognised breeds in the questionnaire.
For example, as an owner of two Alaskan Klee Kai, I was disappointed to learn that the breed wasn’t included in their list of breeds.
Obviously offering just one dog recipe is disappointing, especially for dog parents with picky pooches who like variety.
As a new company, Porter & Pals will presumably add to their menu in the coming years with a beef recipe coming soon.
Is this the best dog food delivery service?
Given Porter & Pals are brand new on the market, they have some work to do to overhaul some of their more established rivals.

Anything else to consider?
helloBARK! always recommend talking to your local veterinarian about your pet’s diet.
It is important to consider the transition process as it isn’t always easy – some dogs have sensitive stomachs.
Porter & Pals do have a new freeze dried beef and vegetable recipe on the horizon to add a second variety.
Porter & Pals conclusion – our final thoughts
So there we have it, we’ve come to the end of our Porter & Pals review.
We’re excited to see this company expand in the coming years.
Porter & Pals will need time to grow before competing with some of the big names on the market.
