Are you interested in purcashing the Petcube Bites 2 camera but it’s a little out of your budget?

Well we’ve got some good news because Petcube have launched a cheaper version of their popular and respected pet camera.

The Petcube Bites 2 Lite is an affordable pet camera that can toss treats giving pet parents the ability to reward their canine companion for good behaviour.

Over half the price of the Petcube Bites 2, it’s significantly cheaper but without cutting back on some of the basic features that make the original camera such a great tool for pet owners.

In this article, we’re going to take a close look at the Petcube Bites 2 Lite, what features the camera has, what customers are saying about the product and how you can avail of an exclusive discount.

We’ll also give our verdict on the camera in comparison to other pet cams we’ve reviewed in the Petcube range.

The Petcube Bites 2 Lite is cost-effective option for pet parents who are looking for a pet camera with a treat dispenser.

This cut-price Lite model is cheaper to buy but doesn’t cut back on some of the tools that we believe makes a good pet cam.

For instance, you can still see, talk to, fling treats and reward your canine companion to enhance training and tackle separation anxiety.

If you’re heading back to the office following a stint of working from home and you’ve now got a furry friend, Petcube Bites 2 Lite can make that process of separation a little easier.

It’s quick to set up – it took me less than 60 seconds thanks to Petcube’s easy-to-use app.

You can also sign up to Petcube Care to get additional features such as video history, 30-second video clips, smart alerts and an additional 20+ pet care perks.

With a brief introduction complete, let’s take a closer look at the Petcube Bites 2 Lite camera.

How It Works

The Petcube Bites 2 Lite is a pet camera with a treat dispenser. This is perhaps the best-known and most-loved feature of the Petcube camera which it has in common with Petcube Bites 2.

You can fling a treat to your dog whether they’re showing some good behaviour or you’re looking to soothe an anxious pet.

With a 160 degree lens complete with 1080p full HD video, you’ll have a clear image of your dogs at all time. Their website explains that they use cutting-edge, AI-technology to provide you with the smartest pet cam.

The Petcube Bites 2 Lite is made of durable plastic so it’s pet proof (it feels much the same as Petcube Bites 2 – I couldn’t tell the difference apart from a lighter grey color and plastic material).

It’s sleek and compact so you can place the Lite model on a countertop, bookshelf, coffee table or window sill.

The Petcube Bites 2 Lite comes with 24/7 year-round assistance thanks to their online vet service.

If you sign up to Petcube Care, you can get additional peace of mind with video history, smart alerts and other pet care perks.

The Petcube Bites 2 Lite is priced at $99.95 on their official website, which is significantly cheaper than the Petcube Bites 2. You can save 5% when you use HBARK5 discount code at the checkout.

Alternatively, UK readers can get the Petcube Bites 2 Lite on online retailer Amazon at £149.99, which is still a lot cheaper than the original model.

Our Verdict

Having previously tried the Petcube Bites 2, I was interested to see how the Lite model differed from the more expensive pet cam.

It was much easier to set up which I think speaks to the advancements that Petcube have made overall with their app and set-up process.

The camera itself worked just like the pricier pet cam with a clear image, two-way audio and a treat dispenser.

I preferred the subtle light gray and white color as opposed to the darker gray color of the Bites 2.

Seeing as it’s significantly cheaper, I’d go for the Bites 2 Lite ahead of Bites 2 if you’re on a budget even though it does have less microphones and is made of plastic.

What Customers Are Saying About It?

The Petcube Bites 2 Lite has an average rating of five stars based upon 10 reviews.

Ganna didn’t hesitate to give the lightweight pet cam a five-star review.

My beloved lab loves it so much and so do I. As I spend most of the day at work, now I can talk to her, say something reassuring and even make her stop chewing on our door mat while being away! The loveliest part is the PetCube’s dispenser sound before treats tossing. She instantly gets so excited waiting to catch a treat. She recognises it instantly. I prefer using the smallest treats as they got scattered around the room so that my dog needs to run and sniff for them trying to find every bit. The camera is great and the audio quality too.

Dan raved about the “cool device” for pet owners.

This is the second Petcube I’ve bought as an addition to the regular monitoring camera. I’m having so much fun playing with this camera. I use it when I’m away to give my dog and cat treats. The Bites 2 camera is a super wide-angle, so I can see almost half of my living room, covering all the spots where my pets love to sleep and play. The picture quality is lovely. It has a night vision with a very bright picture in the low light. This feature is handy when I’m out. I’m out till late and forgot to leave the lights on.

Chris talked up Petcube devices ahead of other pet cams.

Don’t be fooled by any other pet camera systems – this is the OG and the only one you should be buying! We’ve had a few, and nothing comes close to the usability of the Petcube and all of it’s amazing functions. The camera quality is outstanding, the unit is sturdy and built with quality materials, the app’s interface and usability is generally really great – and of course, the treat flinging option is outstanding! Do yourself a favour and get one for you – and your best friend – today!

Any negatives?

There aren’t really any obvious negatives about the Petcube Bites 2 Lite.

If we compare it to the pricier Petcube Bites 2, it’s clear that the material is plastic rather than aluminium and steel. It has one microphone rather than four microphones.

Otherwise, the difference appears to be the price – and that’s a positive!

We’ve reached the end of our review of the Petcube Bites 2 Lite.

It’s excellent for pet owners who are sticking to a tight budget but still want to enjoy the luxury of having a treat dispenser.

Apart from having just one camera and the use of lighter materials, it’s extremely similar to the Petcube Bites 2.

Costing just $99 for US readers, it’s a bargain price for a versatile pet camera.
