KatKin has an average rating of 4.9 stars based upon nearly 2,000 reviews on independent review website Trustpilot.

Dianne hailed KatKin as “wonderful” after transforming her fussy cat.

I have a very very fussy cat, but after trying Kat Kin not any more!! She loves it and eats every morsel. Her coat is shiny and she is healthier, a different cat in fact. Well done Kat Kin. A wonderful product.

Anne believes KatKin’s premium cat food is worth every penny.

My cat seems to LOVE KatKin food. She actually eats it with relish. Instead of being under our feet all day now, she eats her breakfast and takes herself to bed! (She’s 13). It’s more expensive than run of the mill cat food but it’s not money wasted. Happy cat equals happy owners!

Christine was over the moon to see her cat’s improvement on KatKin.

My cat, Mischa was proving very difficult to feed, I’d got to the place where I was throwing away more than she ate. A grumpy cat and I wasn’t happy with the waste of money! The litter smelt very bad and she was generally quite ‘flat’. I happened across an advert for KatKin and decided to give it a trial. I did think it’s a bit pricey at first but honestly, you get what you pay for and in my opinion, she’s worth every penny! My goodness, the change in Mischa was almost overnight ….. she cleared every plateful of food , except for the fish, she’s not a fan !! The litter was so different, she’d been ‘runny’ for ages and it improved completely, the awful smell went, oh yes !!! Even better, her general overall health improved. Her coat is silky soft, she’s got more energy and is generally a happier cat.

Our Verdict

We recruited a taste tester – Maurice the Ragdoll – to test out KatKin over the course of a month to see whether the food lives up to the hype. Here’s the feedback from Maurice’s owners Jess and Joe:

“We thought the packaging was great. We really liked the morning and evening packaging to give a very concise idea of the correct portion per day. The packaging is recyclable so this is a huge bonus!

Signing up their subscription was easy and their questionnaire made everything feel very tailored to Maurice’s needs. It was also good to hear he is the correct weight for his age and breed and they would tailor his portions in line with this.

The flat packaging made the meal pouches super easy to stack in the freezer. We were able to utilise freezer space as best as possible (we only have a small freezer so this was a big positive).

The variety of flavours is great and love how meaty everything was. We could see that the recipes used real ingredients without fillers.

The chicken sprinkles/ seasoning was a genius touch – Mo went crazy for those and would entice him to eat (he is a fussy boy). We would consider buying those as a stand alone product.

As no gravy / jelly in the mix- Mo couldn’t get away with just eating that bit, which is a huge positive and a problem with the vast majority of cats.

We found the portion size to be HUGE. Mo literally ate 1/4 to 1/2 of the allotted amount per day. He is fussy, so he still has a bowl of kibble too.

The only downside living in a hot flat is that the food can get a little stinky.

But Maurice definitely enjoyed the food overall – but continues to be fussy and eats on his terms (standard cat!).”

Any Negatives?

KatKin is a premium cat food service so you should expect to pay more than the regular cat food that you find on your supermarket’s shelf. Having said that, you’re paying for the premium ingredients in the recipes.

The KatKin box comes with a lot of insulation, which you can’t send back to this cat food company – yet. Hopefully this might change in the future to further add to their sustainable practices.

Anything Else To Consider?

You can’t make a one-off purchase of KatKin’s meals on their website but their subscription plan is flexible so you can pause or cancel at any time.

KatKin do offer a two-week trial box with 14 days’ worth of food so you can see if your cat likes their food and you can try to transition your feline friend to their high quality meals.

They offer a 14 day trial for £14 – so just £1 a day to put your cat’s health first.

The insulation included in KatKin’s delivery box is 100% wool – this can be composted, put out for birds to use as nesting material, or used to line pots and planters, or as a blanket for your cat.
