What is Heimvision pet camera?
Heimvision brand their device as a home security camera but have also marketed it as a baby monitor and a pet camera.
Therefore, it has features that will satisfy the needs of three different types of consumers but have missed out some components for pet parents.
It has a HD camera to provide what they describe as a “crystal clear image” of your home when you’re out and about.
Heimvision’s camera has the ability to pan, tilt and zoom, which means you will be able to see most of the room.
With two-way audio, you’ll be able to hear what’s going on and speak to your dog if your four-legged friends requires some reassurance.
The additional purchase of a microSD card will allow pet parents to store footage of their pup over a period of time.
Some of the top devices in the dog camera market come with a treat dispenser. This nifty feature allows pet parents to fling a treat to dog who is behaving well or requires some stimulation.
Unfortunately, the Heimvision device doesn’t have such a feature, although this isn’t too much of a surprise given the product isn’t designed exclusively for dog owners.
HD video and Two-way speaker
Heimvision home security camera comes with 1920*1080 HD resolution, so you should be able to have a clear image of your home provided your Wi-Fi connection is strong enough to support the device.
With 110° wide-angle advanced glass lens and 355°horizontal & 95°vertical rotation, as well as 4x zoom, you should be able to see all angles of your room.
Heimvision’s cam comes with a built-in microphone and speaker. This allow pet owners to remotely talk and listen to their dog.
Audio and movement detection
The device has motion detection and will send a push notification to your smartphone if it detects movement near the camera.
However, there is no sound sensor. So if your dog is barking, crying, howling or whining, the only way to know is by keeping the live stream running on the app.
Heimvision use what they call smart night vision. It has a range of up to 49 feet in low light or even in pitch dark. They reassure dog owners that you can monitor your home clearly, whether it’s day or night. Night vision mode will work automatically based on light change.
Ease of use
Customers who have purchased the Heimvision pet camera on Amazon say that the device is relatively simple to set up.
The product needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet and the app will take you through the steps required to get the pet cam up and running.
Design and size
The Heimvision pet camera is relatively small, so it won’t take up a lot of room in your house. The product’s dimensions are 2.7 x 2.7 x 4.2 inches.
The design makes this device look like a little robot. It may not be for everyone but given its small size, you place it on a book shelf or out of the way as long as it has a clear view of your room.
The Heimvision pet camera costs $35.99 (USD) on Amazon. It is significantly cheaper than the top-of-the-range dog cameras, but it is missing some key features.
What people are saying about it
The device has an average rating of 4 out of 5 based upon nearly 100 reviews on Amazon.
One customer was satisfied with the purchase and claimed the picture quality was better than her home security system:
“When I am on the road shopping or running errands, I can keep an eye on the dogs 24/7 and the house. The picture quality is the best I have seen, even better than our home security system.”
Another review gave four stars due to some complaints about the quality of the image and sound:
“Picture quality isn’t great but I can’t complain for the price. I use it to keep track of my dog when I’m away and it’s perfect for that. The speaker makes my voice sound robotic but still useful if I catch my dog doing something he isn’t supposed to. Overall great product for the price.”
However, 13% of the product’s reviews are one star. Some had issues setting up the device or getting the correct picture:
“After wasting over an hour of my life trying to get this camera to work I ended up throwing it in the garbage. It looks cute and has nice packaging but it was a complete pain in the butt trying to activate it.”
Heimvision pet cam misses out on some important features to get a five-star review from helloBARK! on this occasion.
We believe a treat dispenser is a vital tool for pet parents, while those who have dogs with separation anxiety would benefit from having sound detection.
Is this the best dog camera?
Heimvision do a lot of things right given this is a budget option in the dog camera market.
However, dog owners who want to invest a reasonable amount of their money in a more complete product may prefer to go for a more premium device.

The HeimVision 1080P Wireless Smart IP Camera is designed with the idea to protect private time. By one click of the button on your mobile app, you can cover the camera lens and deactivates the microphone. Nothing will be recorded. Just enjoy your time.
You can also share the live stream of your pet with multiple family members.
Heimvision pet camera is a pretty decent option but doesn’t get full marks from helloBARK! this time around.
It is missing some important features that we like to see when it comes to pet cameras.
For concerned dog parents who want to monitor their dogs and have peace of mind, there are better options available at the moment.
