Things To Consider When Picking Dog Food Delivery

Here are some of the things that I look for when I take a look at dog food delivery companies.

• Ingredients – If you’re making the switch to a dog food delivery company, you want to be sure that they’re using human-grade ingredients for your dog’s meals that are preferably sourced from local suppliers.

• Recipe variety – If you’ve got fussy dogs like my Alaskan Klee Kai, you’ll appreciate a range of options to keep your picky pup motivated at mealtime.

• Expert input – You want peace of mind that your dog’s food has been formulated by people-in-the-know such as pet nutritionists and veterinarians.

• Ordering Experience – Not all pet owners will be computer savvy, so it’s important that the sign up process is clear and simple for people of all abilities.

• Preparation – If you’re paying more for your dog’s premium dog food, you want minimal fuss when it comes to putting their fresh food in the dog bowl.

• Price – While you can expect to pay a little more for these premium meals, you shouldn’t have to pay over the odds to feed your dog in balanced, fresh and healthy meals.

• Reliable deliveries – One of the benefits of going for a dog food delivery company is you’ll never have to worry about picking up dog food at your pet store or supermarket again. This luxury is invaluable during these COVID times!

• Sustainability – While you’ll like the idea of feeding your dog customised food that is free from nasties, you don’t want to do so at the expense of the planet.

So it’s time to give our recommendation: Butternut Box or Pure Pet Food?

While there’s no doubt you won’t go wrong with either company given their fresh and healthy approach to pet nutrition, my preference is Butternut Box.

I like that their recipes create fresh meals, which are clearly visible in your dog’s food pouches. They smell so good that you’ll be tempted to try (remember Butternut Box taste test their food!).

My Klee Kai are picky eaters but I found that they love Butternut Box’s recipes, while I have the luxury of ordering a number of different protein sources to keep them guessing at mealtime.

Their meals are stored in pre-portioned meal pouches so it’s hassle free at mealtime. I simply get a scissors to cut the packet open and pour the contents into my Klee Kai’s bowls.

In my opinion, Butternut Box provide great value for their meals compared to some overpriced options within the dog food delivery market.

Having said that, Pure Pet Food are a strong option for British dog owners who want to stick with a dry food diet.

While your dog’s meals will resemble wet food once you’ve prepared it, the ingredients are all air-dried which is a method that we really like.

Like Butternut Box, Pure Pet Food are environmentally conscious so whether you go for Butternut Box or Pure Pet Food, you can have peace of mind knowing that you’re still doing your bit for the health of our planet.

I rate Butternut Box as an ever-so-slightly superior option to Pure Pet Food but you won’t go wrong with either of these dog food delivery companies.

Butternut Box get an average rating of 4.9 out of 5 based upon over 15,000 reviews on independent review website Trustpilot. This is an exceptional score given the sheer volume of testimonials.

Lisa was thrilled to see her fussy pup Woody wolf down his Butternut Box.

Woody has nearly finished his first Butternut box and I am so happy with the product. Woody was soooooo fussy with his food. Practically only eating cooked chicken for months on end. He loves his new food and his digestion etc is so much better. I am so pleased I tried this. The customer service is just great too. Thank you so much. My life is much easier now not having to cook for Woody.

Nothing gets past Frankie the Poodle but his owner Mary revealed that this curly-haired pup loves his new fresh food diet.

My four-year old rescue Poodle Frankie is a savvy lad where food is concerned and he just adores all the meals that arrive in his monthly Butternut Box. He gets excited at each mealtime which is so good to see and I’m a satisfied owner as I know the food is nutritious and made from good quality ingredients. On a practical note the website is easy to use, the supply system is well-organised and the Butternutter support staff are really friendly and helpful.

Prilly revealed that her dog licks the meal pouches clean.

My dog loves the food and looks and behaves well on it. It is a no fuss, effortless arrangement – the box of food arrives on the appointed day, which you can change if you need. I take out 4 packets at a time and put them in fridge and use them up over the following days. She also cleans the empy packets out, waste not want not is her motto! However, don’t do this if your dog eats plastic… The nice things is the food smells good to us humans, too.

Pure Pet Food get an average rating of 4.8 stars out of 5 based upon over 1,000 reviews. This is a pretty solid rating!

Marie has no qualms about recommending Pure based upon her experience.

My dog has Pancreatitis and has to eat low fat food and just loves this food. I am able to make up as much or as little as he needs each day, with no concerns about wastage or spoiling. This company also has excellent customer service. I have contacted them on a few occasions for different reasons and the response is quick, easy to understand and professional.

Helen has enjoyed success with Pure with her fussy eaters.

This food is the solution we were looking for. It is the comfortable midway between a dry and wet food. All the ease of a dry food, no smell or mess yet all the pleasure for the dog of a wet food. It is the only food that our small, fussy dog will eat. We were very worried about her weight before we tried pure and now she is a healthy size and loving life!

Hazel is happy to pay extra for Pure given the quality of the food.

We were very worried about her weight before we tried Pure and now she is a healthy size and loving life! The food itself is super convenient for me to feed and appears to be super tasty if the enthusiasm with which it is treated is anything to go by.

We’ve reached the end of our Butternut Box vs Pure Pet Food comparison article.

These are two British companies looking to reshape the pet nutrition landscape with their high quality ingredients, fresh recipes and customised meals, all delivered to your door.

I believe Butternut Box have a slight edge because their fresh meals are made in a home-cooked style. They use ingredients that you can clearly see in their recipes.

It’s really convenient that Butternut Box store their meals in pre-portioned pouches so it’s really easy to serve your dog their tailored food. I love that Butternut Box use recycled packaging and recyclable material is so I can feed my dogs in a modern but environmentally friendly way.

Butternut Box are really competitively priced in comparison to some other dog food delivery companies that I’ve previously reviewed.

Having said that, Pure Pet Food represent great value and their food is an excellent option for British dog owners who prefer the idea of air-driend dog food.

Reading through their customer reviews, Pure Pet Food seem to have particularly success with dogs that have previously experienced Pancreatitis.

My dogs tried both Butternut Box and Pure Pet Food. While they clearly enjoyed both of these dog food delivery brands, they got more excited about Butternut Box and for that reason, I ultimately place Butternut Box slightly above Pure Pet Food.
