The Beagle is a member of the American Kennel Club’s Hound Group.

They were used to help humans during hunts for deer, hares and rabbits.

Beagles are often described as “merry” due to their high-spirited personalities. They’re a loyal companion to their humans.

They like to be around other people and dogs given they were bred to hunt in packs.

The AKC rates the Beagle as the sixth most popular dog in the USA.

Pitbull

The American PitBull Terrier is recognised as a breed by the United Kennel Club and the American Dog Breeders Association. The AKC don’t recognise the Pitbull as a breed.

The Pitbull Terrier is a controversial breed that are banned in many nations around the world, including their country of origin, England.

They were bred for blood sports in the 1700s and early 1800s such as bull and bear baiting before such “sports” were banned in 1835.

The UKC writes that the Pitbull came about as a result of dog fanciers who wanted a breed that combined the gameness of the terrier with the strength and athleticism of the Bulldog.

The result was a dog that embodied all of the virtues attributed to great warriors: strength, indomitable courage, and gentleness with loved ones.

These dogs were brought to the USA by immigrants in the 1800s and 1900s.

How big will a Beagle Pitbull Mix get?

In trying to understand the size of a Beagle Pitbull Mix, we need to take a look at the size of both of the parents.

Typically, Beagles can either be 13 inches and under or 13 to 15 inches tall. The smaller variety will weigh under 20 pounds and the larger variety will weigh between 20 and 30 pounds.

Pitbull Terriers have a desirable height range of 17 to 21 inches at the withers and can weigh between 30 and 60 pound depending on the sex of each individual dog.

Therefore, a Beagle Pitbull Mix will usually be between 18 and 21 inches in height and 30 to 40 pounds in weight.

Beagle Pitbull Mix characteristics and temperament

A Beagle Pitbull Mix will inherit certain characteristics and personality traits from each parent.

The medium-sized dogs will usually have brown eyes and floppy ears. Mirroring their Pitbull parent, they can boast a square-shaped head.

Their coat color could be black, brown, gray, white, red, blue or brindle. These colors are a blend between the Beagle and the Pitbull Terrier.

With regards to their temperament, a Beagle Pibull Mix will usually be a caring and loyal dog where their pet parents are concerned given loyalty is a key trait of both breeds.

This attachment their owners can sometimes spill over into separation anxiety. This manifests itself as persistent barking, howling or whining, destructive chewing or digging – and much more.

They’ll need a lot of exercise to ensure they dogs are satisfied in both a mental and physical sense. A tired dog is a happy dog and less likely to resort to unwanted behaviors.

You should never leave a Beagle Pit – or any dog for that matter – with a child or small pet unsupervised.

A Beagle Pit can have a high prey drive, which is the result of the Beagle being used to hunt out small animals.

In doing so, you can teach it basic commands as well as help it to socialise with other dogs if you opt for a class setting.
