These beautiful dogs, not to be confused with the Irish red and white setter, are large, active, and versatile dogs. They require 2-3 hours of exercise every single day which is why they are great family dogs. The Irish setter should be given a large fenced-in yard with lots of space to wander around both indoors and outdoors.
Aside from their activity requirements, they also need to be brushed 2-3 times per week in order to control their shedding. They have fluffy and majestic coats that can shed quite a lot. This is why it is a good idea to stay on top of brushing.
