Dobermans are athletic and muscular dogs.
Like any breed, they need a balanced and complete diet to ensure that these impressive specimens can get the most out of life.
Whether they’re family pets, guard dogs or service animals, Dobermans need to get the right balance of minerals and vitamins.
You may be accustomed to feeding your Doberman dry food or wet food that you find at the pet store.
However, we really believe in dog food delivery companies that produce customised meals using restaurant-grade ingredients for your Doberman delivered right to your doorstep.

Best Dog Food For Dobermans

Dobermans are a German dog breed that tend to be active canines.
While some Dobies might be loved family pets, others are used by the military, police force, security firms, search and rescue or even as blind eye dogs.
Dobermans need a balanced and healthy diet to maintain their overall health.
You may be accustomed to feeding your Doberman traditional dog food brands that you find in your local supermarket or pet store.
As an Alaskan Klee Kai owner, I made the switch to dog food delivery companies in 2018 and I haven’t looked back since making the transition. My two dogs are transformed at mealtime. They’re no longer fussy, but rather wolf down their meals.
I take my health and fitness seriously so I try to ensure I’m only putting the best food into my body. Why shouldn’t I show the same duty of care to my pets?
Having seen the impact dog food delivery companies have had on my dogs, including their health, energy levels and overall happiness, I truly believe in these meals.
I’ve reviewed and tested many of the dog food delivery companies on the market. I consider Nom Nom and Ollie to be two of the best dog food delivery companies available on the market right now.

So I’ve piqued your interest but you want to learn a little more. Well, for the purposes of this article, I did a sample subscription plan with one of the leading dog food delivery companies using my imaginary Doberman, Dobie.
Dobie is a three-year old male Doberman weighing 85 pounds with an active lifestyle. Based upon this information and selecting two different recipes, it would cost me around $75 a month to feed Dobie fresh dog meals.

What Dobermans customers say
All sounds good but you’d like to hear from some dog owners and what they’ve got to say about these fresh dog meals.
One customer left a five-star review after seeing the positive impact of Nom Nom on her dogs:
Our dogs love this new meal plan. They used to get happy about mealtime but now they are ecstatic. Polish their bowls clean. As for myself I love that they are so happy, more playful and shiny coats.
Another pet parent was thrilled with Ollie’s meals and customer service:
My dogs love the food. They have lost weight, have more energy, and less gas. But the main reason I love Ollie is their customer service. I have never come across a company so willing to help. When I find a good company I stick with them!
Dog Food Delivery Companies

Nom Nom offer four different recipes (Photo: Nom Nom)
There is a big shift towards dog food delivery companies as pet parents wake up to the potential additives that go into traditional brands that you might find at the pet store or supermarket.
Dog food delivery companies only use human-grade ingredients to create their meals, avoiding any potential nasties that you could find in dry food or wet food.
Their meals use the fresh ingredients and the recipes are formulated by a team of veterinary nutritionists who ensure all the necessary minerals and ingredients are included.
I’ve seen the positive impact dog food delivery companies can have on dogs first hand. My Alaskan Klee Kai were picky eaters before I made the switch to these fresh meals.
They love their customised recipes and despite having sensitive stomachs, we’ve had no issues since making the transition to a dog food delivery company.
Reasons to try dog food delivery companies
• Freshly prepared meals – Unlike traditional dog food options, these meals use fresh ingredients. So we’re talking about fresh and organic vegetables and USDA approved meat. You’ll have peace of mind knowing that your dog’s meals are comprised of high quality ingredients.
• Customised to your dog – When you first sign up to a dog food delivery company, you’ll be asked to enter some key details about your pet. This allows them the ability to customise your pet’s meals to meet their specific needs.
• Variety of recipes – If you’ve got fussy dogs like me, you may prefer to go for a variety of different recipes. This helps if your dog like variety, just like many of us humans do.
• Formulated by experts – These meals are formulated by experts, so you can have peace of mind knowing that your dog’s nutritional needs are being met.
• Portion control – When you see your dog react with glee to their new meals and show their excitement at mealtime once more, you may be tempted to overfeed. However, these companies pre portion their meals so you won’t have to worry about giving your dog too much grub.
• Motivated dogs at meal time – The biggest plus for me was seeing my two Alaskan Klee Kai excited about their meals again. They’d polish their bowls more quickly than I had ever seen with any other type of dog food. It was brilliant to see.
• Efficient and reliable deliveries – These meals are delivered every fortnight or every month depending on your preference. The packages are stored in an insulated box with plenty of ice to ensure their integrity.
• Flexible subscription plans – You won’t have to be worried about being tied into a long-term plan as most dog food delivery companies will give you the flexibility to cancel or pause with a month’s notice.
Any negatives?
This wouldn’t be an impartial article without touching upon some of the potential negatives.
These meals cost more than traditional dog food options so you can expect to dig a little deeper into your pockets to cover the price of these fresh dog meals. However, I believe it’s worth the investment to protect your dog’s health. In my experience, I’ve made less trips to the vet since making the switch to dog food delivery companies.
You’ll need to ensure you’ve got sufficient space in your fridge and freezer to store the meals. You can keep three days’ worth of food in the fridge ready to serve, while the rest will need to be stored in your freezer. This will require some planning on your part if you’ve got a small freezer. Space will be at a premium!
Dobermans
Dobermans are a German breed that were thought to have originated in the 1880s. They were created by a man called Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann who looked to create his perfect protection dog.
Otto Goeller created the National Doberman Pinscher Club following Dobermann’s death in the 1890s.
The Doberman Pinscher was recognised by the American Kennel Club in 1908. They’ve grown in popularity ever since. The AKC rank them as the 17th most popular breed in America (as of 2019).
Dobermans appearance and size
Dobermans are a medium-to-large breed that excel as working dogs.
They can grow to between 24 and 28 inches in height and they can weigh from 60 to 100 pounds.
Dobermans can come with a striking coat of black, blue, red or fawn, along with rust markings.
They’ve got a long head that resembles a blunt wedge with brown, almond-shaped eyes. Dobermans usually have a broad chest with a docked tail.
Dobermans exercise requirements
Dobermans are active dogs that will require regular exercise. They require between 60 and 90 minutes of activity a day. So you’ll need to make sure you can give your Doberman sufficient mental and physical stimulation.
Dobermans health
Like any bred, Dobermans are prone to some potential health problems. These conditions include cardiomyopathy, hip dysplasia, hypothyroidism, Von Willebrand’s Disease, Wobbler’s syndrome, progressive retinal atrophy and albinism.
Anything else to consider?
We recommend speaking to your vet before you switch your Doberman to a new diet. If you decide to go ahead and sign up to a dog food delivery company, they’ll usually provide a guideline to gradually introduce their new food into their diet. If you switch too fast, you could cause a tummy upset or diarrhea.
This article does not constitute expert advice and we recommend contacting your vet if you have any concerns or issues. You can also reach out to the company you’re thinking about subscribing to as they’ll usually have experts on hand to offer advice.
